My name is Luke Korkowski
Experience.
Recently, I took a position opening up the Colorado market for a professional services firm that provides comprehensive legal, human capital, and operational consulting services to mid-market companies. Basically, I am starting a new business, and it's not my first time. It's just that this time I have an entire team behind me.
Previously, however, I started my own solo small business consulting firm, which was an experiential education invaluable to developing my real-world skills.
It was more intense and more educational than any other job I have heard of, as I acted as both lawyer and entrepreneur (and secretary and salesman and paralegal and bookkeeper). I started the firm from scratch, I built a loyal client base, and I sharpened my business and legal abilities.
Prior to starting my firm, I served a stint as a clerk to a justice on the Montana Supreme Court, which taught me the importance of crafting laws correctly and precisely, with an eye to their actual application rather than the hope that people will just "get" what the drafter meant to say.
The sum of my experience, then, is that I know what it means to make a living from my own toil and risk-taking, and I have an intimate familiarity with the impact laws have on our daily lives.
Character.
My wife, Joy, and my two goober kids, Kyla and Austin, motivate me not only to be good at what I do, but to simply be good. I take the measure of my character by the pride (or disappointment) in my family's eyes.
Ability.
I've obtained a BA, a MBA, and a law degree. The Montana Supreme Court had not seen a law student intern in a generation until I pursued the position, which is also how I later came to serve as a clerk there. My friends and colleagues thought it was a huge risk for me to start my own firm, especially since I had not previously been a lawyer or entrepreneur. And recently I was able to persuade a Boston-based firm that they needed me on their team, despite the fact that they had no specific plans to expand to Colorado. But I did all these things and succeeded.
I know how to get things done.
