Education

A little economic education would go a long way.

Competition

Competition makes things better. It fosters a "race to the top." The struggle forces the competitors to find the most efficient and effective ways to achieve the set goal.

So why do we allow so little competition in education?

Our system of financing schools from the early grades through the university level is broken and failing. We have some truly outstanding educators and administrators in Colorado, but they're fighting a losing battle. The problem is that we treat education as if somehow normal economic laws don't apply to it. Central planning, monopoly, and command-and-control operations have been shown over and over to fail at producing the desired results, yet we still use them in delivering educational services.

Educators are not the problem. A non-competitive system is the problem.

As your Representative, I will always strive to introduce more and more competition into the education system. That's the only way to ensure that our kids get the quality education they need.
