Press Release - POLITICIAN SELLS HOT AIR

August 17, 2010

Mt Crested Butte, CO - Luke Korkowski, Republican candidate for Colorado State House District 61, makes a blunt case for economic recovery:

Government does not create real jobs. It gets in the way of creating real jobs. If you don’t believe me, just try to start a business on your own, and you’ll see how the government prevents folks from hanging a shingle and selling a product. When I am elected, my primary aim will be to get the government out of the entrepreneur’s way—and that will lead us to a healthier, more vibrant economy.

Primary Day

August 10, 2010

Don’t forget to go to the polls and vote in the Republican primary! The U.S. Senate seat, the governorship, and the U.S. House seat are up for grabs.

Reader Input - Rethink Immigration

August 08, 2010

I was reading the Denver Post article about Rep Curry and wondered who she is running against. I looked at your Web-page and read your positions.

I am a Colorado native retired living in Mexico. And I vote.

Please tell me you are not dim enough to think that anyone but Hispanics are being stopped by the Ariz. Highway patrol. I lived in SE Denver for a time before I moved to Mexico. There were many illegal aliens living there: Russian, Czech, Polish and other Eastern European nationalities. Please tell me you are not so naive to think that these illegals (who are also “taking our jobs”) will be harassed if Colorado were to pass such a law.

Right now people with Arizona plates are having their cars stoned in my little Mexican Village. The Mexican people are hurt and angry. And rightly so. Racial profiling is not the American way. (OK maybe it is - my ancestors faced “No Irish need apply” signs) Is [sic] wasn’t right then and it isn’t right now. Please rethink you [sic] position.

Thank you

Stunning Video

August 03, 2010

A citizen appropriately challenges Congressman Pete Stark about his notion of “rights.” The woman who speaks in this video is clearly upset, but she does a good job (on the whole) of articulating the problem with the modern conception of “rights” without completely losing her cool.

Getting Rights Right

July 15, 2010

Last week I attended a portion of The Americas Roundtable on Poverty Reduction: Politics and Strategies (part of the Biennial of the Americas) at which Tom Farer, retiring Dean of DU’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies gave opening remarks.

One line from his short speech struck me in the cortex. He said, “A right is a duty that the State owes to its citizens.” I could not believe my ears.

Enforce immigration laws

A reader asks:

What is your position re the Arizona legislation concerning illegal immigration?  Do you think we should have a similar law in Colorado?

Reduce the size of government.

April 27, 2010

A reader asks:

I am wondering just how do you plan to change the size of govt in Colorado? I am afraid it is not as easy as it sounds. It seems you are ready to side with the “party of no” on all issues and no legislator can single handedly change the size of state govt. As you know state govt is fluid and progress (not in the political sense…), policies are built up and shaped each session. Wouldn’t it make you an “activist” if you just went in there and proposed bills that strike policies and laws that our elected reps have worked on all these years? I do understand where that scenario is applicable though. On your web page I feel like all you do is spout the same old retoric that most Republicans do using your buzz words and trendy topics of the day for your party. This I think is more suitable on the national scene where nothing is done right anyway. Give the voters some meat and potatoes about the issues you intend to address if elected to office in November. The US Constitution is not the “end all be all” at the state level as you well know.

Are you going to vote with the US Constitution, the GOP, or the people in your district? Relative to your website I can not tell.

Thank you for your time, I am a conservative independent voter and am undecided on my vote for state rep.this fall. A response would most definately help me and mine make a better decision as to who I should support on the campaign trail this summer.
